MYTYPE — TERMS OF SERVICE Version tos-v1-2026-08-06. Effective 2026-08-06. Operator: MyType (mytype.fyi). Contact: hello@mytype.fyi.
1. ELIGIBILITY. You must be 18 or older. We verify age by your date of birth at signup and retain only an over-18 flag. We may terminate and delete any account we discover belongs to a minor, without notice. The service is offered only to users located in the United States, excluding Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Colorado (states with biometric-specific statutes; the exclusion is deliberate and permanent). Campus (.edu) email verification, where used, confirms enrollment or affiliation only and implies no relationship with, endorsement by, or sponsorship by any university.
2. THE SERVICE. MyType is a preference-measurement instrument: you view grids of AI-generated synthetic faces, tap the ones you like, and receive a statistical model of your facial-preference type. It is not a dating, matchmaking, or introduction service; it provides no messaging, no meeting, and no verification of any person.
3. NO BIOMETRICS. We do not collect, capture, store, or process photographs of you or any other real person. We do not generate or store facial recognition templates, face geometry scans, or biometric identifiers of any kind. Every face shown in this product is synthetic and depicts no real person.
4. SYNTHETIC FACES. All faces shown are AI-generated and depict no real individual; any resemblance to a real person is coincidental. Generation and filtering are controlled to depict adults only. You receive a personal, non-commercial right to share your result images; you may not represent generated images as photographs of real people.
5. WHAT IS PUBLIC. What will be visible to others: your display name (which may be a pseudonym), your campus or group affiliation, your derived preference results shown as synthetic faces and aggregate statistics, and group-level aggregate results once a group crosses its minimum size (20 people). Faces you tap are never shown to anyone as individual choices. There is no private mode for group participation. Anything shared or screenshotted cannot be recalled after deletion.
6. RESEARCH USE (SEPARATE CONSENT). If you give the separate research consent at signup, you grant MyType (mytype.fyi) a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use your comparison responses, derived preference models, and usage data for research, analysis, publication, and product development. Research outputs are aggregate and de-identified; no publication will identify you by name, handle, or profile link without your separate express consent. Publication venues include peer-reviewed journals, preprints, conference papers, blog posts, essays, press interviews, replication datasets, and derived commercial products. Campus-level and group-level aggregates may be published, including comparisons between institutions. We will not publish any aggregate for a group of fewer than 20 people, and we commit not to publish anything reasonably likely to permit re-identification. Aggregate and de-identified data already incorporated into published research, released datasets, or trained models cannot be withdrawn; account deletion removes your account and identifiable records but does not unwind a published statistic. De-identified data may be shared with academic collaborators under equivalent terms. Declining research consent does not limit your use of the service.
7. EMAIL AND SMS. An email address is required; we use it for sign-in links and service messages. We do not collect phone numbers or send SMS today. If SMS features ship later, they will require your separate express written consent at that time, will never be a condition of use, and will honor STOP/HELP immediately and permanently.
8. PROHIBITED USES. No automated access, scraping, bulk download, or crawling. No attempt to reconstruct, invert, or extract preference vectors from exposed outputs. No re-identification attempts against aggregate or anonymized data. No building or operating derivative services on public data, including any service that compares uploaded photographs against profiles. No harassment, doxxing, or targeting of any individual. No creating accounts for or about another person. No use by anyone under 18. We enforce these technically (including rate limits) and legally.
9. GROUPS. Any member may join groups they qualify for; group results become public once the group crosses its minimum size (20), and you are told this before joining. Leaving a group removes you from future aggregates but not from already-published ones. Nobody can add you to a group without your own affirmative action.
10. NO OUTCOME GUARANTEE. The service does not predict romantic or sexual outcomes, compatibility, or relationship success. Preference-model outputs are statistical estimates from limited data and are frequently wrong at the individual level. We are not liable for interactions occurring outside the service.
11. DELETION AND YOUR RIGHTS. You can delete your account in-product at any time. On deletion we remove your account, email, phone, display name, and identifiable comparison records within 30 days. Aggregate and de-identified data already published or incorporated into research survives per Section 6. California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing under CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon, and Montana have equivalent rights; one request flow (hello@mytype.fyi) serves all.
12. GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTION. The service is not offered in Illinois, Texas, Washington, or Colorado, or outside the United States, and we block access from those regions. Circumventing the restriction (including by VPN) is a violation of these terms, and you represent at signup that you are not located there.
13. DISPUTES — ARBITRATION AND CLASS WAIVER. Any dispute is resolved by binding individual arbitration; you and MyType (mytype.fyi) each waive any right to participate in a class action. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of account creation by emailing hello@mytype.fyi with subject "arbitration opt-out". Governing law: Florida, USA; venue for any non-arbitrable matter: the courts of Florida.
14. GENERAL. We may modify these terms with notice; continued use is acceptance. We may terminate accounts violating these terms. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder stands. DMCA notices: hello@mytype.fyi. A change log of terms versions is maintained and every prior version is retained.
